About Krillion Game

Krillion Game is our own free word game for the browser. Each prompt asks you to name something, such as a citrus fruit or a moon in our solar system. Any correct answer scores, but rarer answers score more, and every point takes your diver 10 metres deeper. The game is inspired by krillion.io. We are not affiliated with krillion.io, and we don't use its prompts or answer lists.

What you can play

  • Daily Dive: 7 prompts, the same for everyone, with 25 seconds each. A new dive starts at 04:00 UTC, and you can replay the day's dive as often as you like.
  • Krillion Unlimited: random prompts one after another until you run out of air. Each pass or timeout costs one of 3 oxygen tanks.
  • Puffer Party: multiplayer for 2 to 10 players. Share a room code, name an answer to pass the puffer, and be the last one floating.

There are no accounts, no sign-up and nothing to download.

How prompts and answer lists are made

Every prompt and answer list is written for this site. The bank currently holds 82 prompts and 4,095 accepted answers:

  • General knowledge: 22 prompts
  • Geography: 20 prompts
  • Movies: 20 prompts
  • Sports: 20 prompts

Each accepted answer sits in one of five rarity tiers: 🐙 Abyssal (100 points), 🦑 Midnight Zone (85 points), 🐠 Twilight Zone (60 points), 🐟 Sunlit Zone (30 points), 🌊 Surface (10 points). The tiers are our own hand-made estimates of how readily each answer comes to mind. They are not based on a survey or on what other players type, and we don't collect players' answers to set them. An estimate can be wrong, so if an answer looks misplaced or missing, tell us on the contact page or email contact@krillion-game.online.

Answers can have several accepted spellings and aliases (for example “Pomelo” and “Pummelo”). Matching ignores capital letters, accents and a leading “the”, “a” or “an”. Short answers must be spelled exactly; longer ones allow one or two typos. You can read every accepted answer on the prompt pages, sorted from the deepest cuts to the obvious picks.

How the Daily Dive is picked

Nobody hand-picks the daily prompts. The date seeds a shuffle of the whole prompt bank, and the first 7 prompts become that day's dive, so every player gets the same set without any server keeping score.

How the site works

The Daily Dive and Unlimited run entirely in your browser. Your answers are checked on your own device and are not sent to us. Your best depth, sound setting and the day's last finished dive are saved in your browser's local storage. Puffer Party is different: a room server on Cloudflare checks answers and keeps the room's players and scores while the room is open. Our privacy policy lists exactly what is stored. The site is served by Cloudflare.

Guides and answer pages

Our strategy guides and practice prompts are written to help you find rarer answers. Where a guide states facts, we aim to cite sources. If you spot a mistake, please let us know.
