Krillion Game is a website with a game that runs in your browser. We don't run accounts and we don't ask for your email to play. In the Daily Dive and Unlimited, your answers stay on your device. In Puffer Party, the multiplayer mode, your nickname and answers go to a temporary room server so the other players can see them. This page describes everything the site stores or shares, including the cookieless page analytics we use.

What the game saves on your device

The game uses your browser's local storage and session storage, which stay on your device. We don't read them from our servers.

  • krillion-daily-YYYY-MM-DD: the prompts and your answers from that day's last finished Daily Dive, so the start screen can reopen your last results.
  • krillion-best-daily-YYYY-MM-DD: your best depth for that day's Daily Dive, to show “New best today”.
  • krillion-best-… (for example krillion-best-endless-mixed): your best depth in Krillion Unlimited.
  • krillion-muted: whether you switched the sound off.
  • krillion-party-name and krillion-party-avatar: the nickname and sea creature you last used in Puffer Party, so you don't have to pick them again.
  • Session storage, cleared when you close the tab: krillion-party-id, a random ID for this tab in Puffer Party, and krillion-party-seat-CODE, which lets a reload rejoin the room you were in.

These entries stay until you clear them. You can delete them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. If storage is blocked, for example in some private windows, the game still works; it just won't remember your results.

Analytics

To understand which pages people visit, we use Umami, an open-source, cookieless analytics tool. It runs on our own analytics server at song-analytics.top, not on a third-party advertising or tracking service. Each time you open a page, the Umami script sends a page-view record with:

  • the page address and title, and the referring page (the site you came from, if your browser shares it);
  • your browser's language and screen size;
  • your browser, operating system and device type, read from the browser's user-agent string;
  • an approximate location (country, and possibly region or city) looked up from your IP address.

Umami doesn't use cookies. According to Umami's documentation, your IP address is used to work out the approximate location and an anonymous visitor identifier (a hash of the site ID, IP address, user agent and a salt that changes monthly), but it isn't saved as a field in the analytics records. Like any web server, the analytics server may still see IP addresses in its technical logs. We use the results only as aggregate statistics, such as page views and visitor counts. We don't send your game answers, scores or any custom events to Umami, and we don't use it to identify you.

To opt out, block song-analytics.top with a content blocker, or set umami.disabled to1 in this site's local storage. The game works the same either way. Sources: Umami FAQ, tracker functions and metric definitions.

Cookies and advertising

The site doesn't set cookies of its own, and it doesn't load any advertising or other tracking scripts. Some pages keep empty space reserved for advertising, but no ad network is active. If we add advertising or change our analytics, we will update this policy first and describe what it collects.

Puffer Party rooms

Puffer Party rooms run on a small room server on Cloudflare (Workers and Durable Objects). When you take a seat in a room, your browser sends the room server:

  • the room's four-letter code;
  • the nickname you typed (up to 16 characters) and the sea creature you picked;
  • a random player ID created by your browser for this tab, not linked to you or your device;
  • the answers you type while holding the puffer, and the host's room settings.

While the room is open, the server keeps the players' nicknames, creatures and player IDs, each player's hearts and meter, the answers accepted in the current category and who gave them, the room settings, and when the room was created and last active. Everyone in the room, and anyone who opens the room with its code or link, sees the nicknames, the accepted answers and the scores. Answers the game turns away are shown to the room once and not kept. If you host a public room, including one opened by Quick Play, its code, your nickname and the number of players are shown in the public room list on the Puffer Party page.

Rooms are temporary. When you leave, or close the tab while in the lobby, your seat is removed. If you drop out during a game, your seat is kept so you can rejoin, until the host starts a new game or returns to the lobby. Accepted answers are cleared each time the category changes. Once nobody is connected and the room has had no activity for 30 minutes, the room server deletes the room and everything stored for it, and removes it from the public list. We don't keep game histories or results after that. The room server doesn't write nicknames, answers or IP addresses to logs; like any web request, the connection is handled by Cloudflare, as described under Hosting. Please don't put personal details in your nickname. Room links contain the room code, so it is part of the page address that Umami records.

Sharing your result

The Share button only creates text: your depth, a row of tier emoji and a link to the site. On phones it opens your device's share sheet; elsewhere it copies the text to your clipboard. Nothing is sent to us.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data that every web request contains, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy. The fonts and images are served from our own site, not from third-party font or image services.

Links to other sites

Some pages, such as Games like Krillion, link to other websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we don't control.
